LENOIR, N.C. – Bernhardt Furniture announced it has hired Mark Cowan as vice president of sales for its residential case goods division.

He fills a position formerly occupied by Steve Pilgrim, who was promoted to senior vice president of sales, residential.

He joined the company from Universal Furniture, where he was vice president of sales for the Eastern region. At Universal, he also served as vice president of sales for the central region.

For more than 18 years prior to joining Universal in early 2015, he was a sales representative and senior account manager at Lane Furniture as well as Jonathan Louis. In addition, he has experience in product development and sourcing.

In his new position, he will oversee the residential case goods sales force and work directly with the company’s retail partners. He reports to William Collett, executive vice president and general manager of Bernhardt residential case goods.

“Mark’s experience in sales and account management will be a valuable asset in helping our partners to grow their retail business,” Collett said.

“I have long admired Bernhardt as a company where their brand and design go hand-in-hand with the quality and execution of their product,” Cowan said. “I am both honored and excited to continue the excellent work Bernhardt has been known for and to assist in accelerating our partners’ business to an even higher level – not only through our extensive product line, but also by delivering the powerful Bernhardt brand experience to their customers.”
