AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Industry veteran Art Lanciers has joined Gardner-White here as director of operations, a new position for the 10-store Top 100 company.

He reports to President Rachel Tronstein and will be involved in the Detroit-area retailer’s operations across disciplines, including sales, distribution and merchandising, Tronstein said.

“We welcome the insight, experience and creativity he brings to Gardner-White,” she added.

With more than 40 years of industry experience, Lanciers retired briefly from the industry in 2015, later becoming a wine ambassador and fine wine specialist for Great Lakes Wine & Spirits.

Before that, he was principal partner in former case goods importer Anthony Arthur Furniture. Lanciers’ long history in furniture retail includes buying and management positions at Columbus, Ohio-based American Signature, at the former Roberds and Rhodes, and at Warren, Mich.-based Art Van Furniture.

Gardner-White is No. 55 on Furniture Today’s Top 100 ranking of U.S. furniture stores with estimated 2017 furniture, bedding and accessory sales of $135 million at nine southeastern Michigan showrooms. In May, the company grand opened its 10th store in the Detroit suburb of Novi, Mich., a 60,000-square-foot showroom in a former Gander Mountain space.
